Scholarship Fund – Investing in our Future
Our scholarship program was setup to grant a scholarship to a descendent of the Houston Chapter alumni. Our first banquet to raise money for our scholarship program was held in February 1997 during Black History month. In May 2003 we gave our first scholarship to Neeshele McDonald Taylor a 2003 graduate from Austin, Texas. This young lady would be attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, majoring in medicine. Our second scholarship was given in 2005 to Davida Newby a 2005 graduate from Austin, Texas who would be attending Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and majoring in computer science.
The third and fourth scholarships were given in 2007 to Rolanda Taylor from Covington, TN who would be attending University of Memphis, TN majoring in education and Brittany Williams from Humble, TX who would be attending Texas Tech University in TX and majoring in Pre-dentistry. We have had excellent candidates for our scholarship recipients. The scholarship recipient for 2008 is Lauren Bankston a 2008 Cum Laude graduate of North Shore High School in Houston Texas. Lauren will be attending Texas A & M University in College Station.
