Verna (Maxwell) Harris ‘67

After graduating from high school, I relocated from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California where I attended Miramar College majoring in business administration.

I am blessed to have retired on January 3, 2007, from the Treasury Department/ Internal Revenue Service after 38 years. I worked in various departments of IRS; I was a Revenue Officer and Manager for over 20 years. My last position was in the Taxpayer Advocate Office where among many assignments, I served as the Director.

My career with the government allowed me to travel extensively throughout the United States and Puerto Rico wherever the IRS maintained an office. I relocated from California to New Orleans, LA (5 years) to Houston (4 years) to Ft. Lauderdale, FL (5 years) then back to Houston where I have now retired to my home state.

My husband John and I are active members of the Brookhollow Baptist Church, TCWW; I sing in the choir, and actively participate in Lydia’s Women Study Group. We have 6 blessed adult children all of whom are Christians, living in various parts of the USA. We are blessed with 6 biological grandchildren and 3 adopted grandchildren.

Vernon Manor ‘65

Vernon Manor, Jr., was born in Austin, Texas on February 2, 1947, to the parents of Vernon and Juanita (Medearis) Manor, Sr. He is the oldest child with a younger sister and four brothers.

Education consisted of attending L. L. Campbell Elementary, Kealing Junior High, and a 1965 graduate of the Original L.C. Anderson High School. He was a member and lettered on the football team. For two years after high school graduation he continued his higher education at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas.

He was a professional banquet manager, executive chef at the Sheraton and Marriott Hotels in Austin and Houston, and at the San Luis 4 Diamond Resort/Conference Center in Galveston for several years before his retirement.

Accomplishments and awards were many. The ones that really stood out were the ones as Director for the Texas Chef’s Association in Galveston, and the Manger and Chef award of the year.

Married to Marcia Hurst-Manor, they are the parents of five children and eight grandchildren, which are the pride and joy of his life.


Barbara (Newby) Moseley ‘59

Barbara Newby Moseley was born in Austin, Texas. She is a graduate of the Original L.C. Anderson High School class of 1959. Barbara received a B.S. degree in Business Education and a M.S. degree in Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A. & M. University. She earned certification in Mid-Management, elementary education and secondary education.

Barbara taught grades one through five; worked as a Teacher Facilitator; Rap Counselor, Assistant Principal then Principal. She retired in the year of 2000 as Principal of Looscan Elementary.

Barbara is the wife of Earl L. Moseley, and has two sons, and two grandsons. She attends Good News Church where she serves as Elder, Champions for Christ Children’s Ministry, nursery worker and the Administrative Director of LIFE.

Kelly Foster ‘64

Kelly M. Foster, Jr. is the Corporate Information Technology Manager for Delta Steel, L.P. Kelly was born and reared in Austin’s eastside and spent his formative years being educated in the Austin Public School District (L L Campbell Elementary, Kealing Jr High and L C Anderson High School).

After graduating from high school, Kelly attended the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University formally Southwest Texas State University (SWTSU) and graduated from SWTSU with a major in Mathmatics and a minor in Chemistry. Shortly after graduation he went to work for IBM in San Antonio as a Marketing Rep which got him into the Information Technology field.

After spending 8 years in San Antonio, Kelly moved his family (wife Sylvia and their son) to Houston to accept a Programmer/Analyst position with Schlumberger. After 6 years with Schlumberger, the Houston Oil Boom turned into an Oil Bust and Kelly transitioned out of the oil industry, into the Steel industry and has been there for the last 20 years.

Kelly’s responsibilities includes directing a staff of computer professionals, managing all computer hardware and software at the corporate office and 8 branch offices, and configuring and supporting all of the network equipment to link these offices together.

When not working, Kelly enjoys traveling, cycling, jogging, golf and exercising at the gym. Kelly has completed 2 marathons (26.2 miles) and 5 MS 150’s (bicycle ride from Houston to Austin to raise money for the MS Society). He and his wife have also traveled extensively in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America.
